Rare white elephant a good omen, says Burma
A rare white elephant has been caught in a jungle in western Burma, with the press today hailing the find as an auspicious event that bodes well for the military state.
The eight-year old beast, standing 6ft tall, was among eight elephants caught by forestry officials last month at Chutpyin village in Rakhine State, 340 miles north-west of Rangoon, the New Light of Myanmar newspaper reported.
