Peres defends assassinations policy

Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres today defended the assassinations of Palestinian militants suspected of terror operations as a necessary act of self-defence.

He said the policy was needed to face ‘‘a completely new phenomenon’’ the suicide attacker.
