Gunman shot dead at Qatar air base

Guards at an air base in Qatar being used by the US army have shot and killed a man after he opened fire on the base today.

There are unconfirmed reports that some American soldiers were injured in the attack before the gunman was himself was shot dead.

The authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident. The base is 60 miles south of Doha, the capital of Qatar.
