Russia rules out Afghan military involvement

Russia has ruled out any military involvement in the United States’ war against Afghanistan, but said it will continue to share intelligence with its allies in the US.

An aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin said the two former enemies were sharing information before September 11.

However, the aide added that the US had ignored Russian warnings about Osama bin Laden’s connection to Islamic militants in Chechnya.

"We had such information, but unfortunately out partners in the West did not pay it serious enough attention before September 11," he said.
