At least 35 people have been killed in an upsurge in violence in Indian Kashmir today.

The victims, including 27 militants and 5 soldiers, died in a wave of separate clashes which included a suicide attack on an army camp.

Police Officials in the region said militants of a Pakistani-based group attacked the camp with grenades, as gunbattles raged for hours.
