Second anthrax case in Germany

A second German case of anthrax contamination is suspected in the northern state of Schleswig-Holstein.

Germany had its first case of anthrax contamination following initial tests on a suspect letter in the east of the country, officials said today.

The health ministry in the state of Thuringia gave no further details on the case, but scheduled a news conference later today.

Germany has been hit by a series of false alerts for anthrax across the country in recent weeks, although no tests had so far proved positive.
