Three-year-old boy shoots kills himself with mother's gun

A three-year-old boy in South Africa has shot himself dead with his mother's gun.

Christina Swart found her son wounded on the floor of their Middelburg home.

He died on the way to hospital, Mpumalanga police say.

His mother was outside when the accident happened.

Inspector Leonard Hlathi says the boy took the revolver from a dressing table drawer and shot himself while playing.

Reports do not say whether the woman will face charges.
