Israel arrests eight Palestinians in new West Bank incursion

Israel troops have arrested eight suspected Palestinian militants following a five-hour invasion of a northern West Bank town today.

Israeli tanks, backed by helicopter gunships, entered Arrabeh, near Jenin, before dawn and surrounded the home of one suspected militant, according to witnesses.

Soldiers subsequently arrested eight people, four Islamic Jihad activists and one Hamas militant. Three Palestinians were also injured in a gunfight as the troops entered the town.
