Body of Boston strangler exhumed

A post mortem has begun on the exhumed remains of the man believed to have been the Boston strangler in an attempt to discover the identity of his killer.

The body of Albert DeSalvo was taken from his grave in Massachusetts on Friday and taken to a forensic laboratory in Pennsylvania.

DeSalvo is believed to have been responsible for a number of murders in Boston between 1962 and 1964.

He confessed to the killings while serving a life sentence for unrelated crimes but retracted his confession before being stabbed to death in prison in 1973.
