Gotthard Tunnel to be cleared

Police in Switzerland have said that the work to clear the Gotthard Tunnel will take less time than expected.

Three days after the blaze authorities are still trying to reach a 50-yard stretch of the world's second longest tunnel where 12 burnt out vehicles remain.

At the height of the fire temperatures reached 1,200 degrees Celsius. The authorities are hopeful that there will be no more than the current number of 11 fatalities.
