Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is willing to negotiate a peace accord that includes a Palestinian state, but would dictate strict limitations that Palestinians have already rejected.

Sharon’s words followed statements in favour of a Palestinian state from US President George Bush and the leaders of Great Britain, Ireland and Holland, in what appeared to be efforts to remove the Israel-Palestinian conflict from the international agenda as the world gears up for its struggle against international terrorism.
