Fourteen killed in Turkish road crashes

Eight people were killed and 34 injured today when three lorries and two buses crashed in northern Turkey.

It happened when a lorry overtaking another vehicle collided with an oncoming truck, reports said.

Two buses and a third lorry crashed into the wreckage.

The pile-up was near the Black Sea city of Samsun before dawn.

Turkey, with two-lane highways and little police surveillance, has one of the worst traffic records in Europe.

Six people died in another accident when a car lost control and flipped over near the central Anatolian city of Sivas, reports added.
