Israel slams Syria's election to UN security council

Israel and Jewish groups from the United States have denounced Syria’s election to the UN security council, saying it is absurd to have a nation accused of sponsoring terrorism on the powerful decision-making body.

Syria won a two-year term on the council yesterday with overwhelming support from the international community and no opposition from the US.
