Taliban denies '30 dead' reports

News agencies say more than 30 people are dead after the air strikes on Afghanistan but the Taliban says there are no casualties.

The Afghan Islamic Press said 20 people died near Kabul airport and 10 were killed near Radio Shariat.

Other casualties were reported from Kandahar and Jalalabad. Taliban radio said there were no damage or casualties.

"The possibility of a large number of deaths cannot be discounted," the news agency said. It did not say whether the victims were civilians or members of the Taliban army.

Earlier, the Taliban emissary to Pakistan Abdul Salam Zaeef was quoted as saying there were "civilian casualties".

Taliban's official Voice of Shariat radio said the raids on Kabul did not cause any damage.

The radio's reports added: "The well-organised and brave troops of the Islamic Emirate will defend its Muslim nation to their last breath of life."
