Police were out in force today in Pakistan’s biggest city after US and British forces launched attacks the night before on Afghanistan and suspected strongholds of alleged terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden.

Police cordoned off streets leading to the US consulate in Karachi and bolstered security around offices of major US companies that operate there.
