Putin claims missiles could not have caused crash

Russian President Vladimir Putin said tonight that missiles used in the military exercise in the vicinity of the crash could not have caused it.

Mr Putin, speaking in the Kremlin during a break in talks with Prime Minister Tony Blair, said: ‘‘The weapons that were used on the exercise have such tactical capability to make it impossible to reach the air corridors and therefore they were out of reach.’’
