'No doubt' it was bin Laden says Blair

The British Prime Minister said today that he had ‘‘absolutely no doubt’’ that it was Osama bin Laden and his terrorist network who carried out the attacks in America on September 11.

As MPs rushed back to Westminster for the second recall of parliament since the atrocities, Mr Blair promised to place a document detailing the basis for this conclusion in the Commons library later today.

In an emergency statement updating the House, he said some details could not be released for security reasons.

‘‘For myself and all the other government ministers who have studied the full information, we have absolutely no doubt that bin Laden and his network are responsible for the attacks on September 11.’’
