Urn memorial for relatives

Relatives of the missing in the World Trade Centre were told tonight they will be given a permanent memorial of their loved ones in the form of an urn.

The urns will be filled with soil from the site of the destroyed twin towers, reflecting the fact that many of the missing will never be found in any form, after being effectively cremated in the intense heat of the fires which raged after September 11’s attacks.
