The United States has stepped up its military preparations for an attack on Afghanistan by sending 1,500 ground troops into Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

According to the New York Post, the two former Soviet republics are now part of the build-up to military actions against Afghanistan’s Taliban Government.

8,000 marines are also on their way to the region around Afghanistan, while special forces are already believed to be operating in the parts of the country controlled by anti-Taliban warlords.
