Macedonia’s National Liberation Army decommissioned "carloads" of weapons today, despite the fact that the NATO force overseeing the disarming of the rebels has already collected its target of 3,300 weapons.

The third and final stage of the weapons collection ends on Wednesday but NATO officials said today that they have already exceeded their target.

Under the Macedonian peace process, the NLA agreed to disarm in exchange for new laws guaranteeing equal rights for the country’s minority ethnic Albanians.
