Two arrested in Belgium with chemicals

Two men have been arrested in Belgium after police found more than one hundred kilos of chemicals in a pub.

The quantities are reported to be enough to create a bomb of the same intensity used by Timothy McVeigh in Oklahoma City.

Local newspapers say a regular at the pub in Brussels is believed to have had close contact with French Algerian Djamal Beghal, who is being held in the United Arab Emirates.

He has reportedly confessed to planning an attack on US targets.

The papers claim Beghal told French authorities the pub regular was helping associates of Osama bin Laden to plan an attack on the US embassy in Paris.

European Parliament members recently demanded that they be issued gas masks following fears that terrorists linked to bin Laden were planning to attack them with Sarin nerve gas.
