EU to crack down on terrorist funding
Europe’s Finance Ministers have tonight agreed to attempt to cut the funding to terrorist groups.
A 10-point plan has been drawn up by the EU Finance Ministers following today’s meeting in Belgium.
There will be a speeding up of the mechanisms that are in place to seize funds which are being laundered and there will also be a crackdown on insider trading.
The ministers are also clearing the way for the exchange of information between European intelligence agencies to close off the cash channels to the terrorist groups.
All countries made an undertaking to ensure that their laws are in line with EU standards.
