University clones second calf

The University of Tennessee has cloned a second calf from an adult Jersey cow, hoping the research will lead to a cure for an infection that costs the dairy industry billions of dollars.

Emma, a tan heifer born on August 30, was introduced to the world yesterday. She watched contentedly from a small corral.

Millie, the university’s first cloned calf, died suddenly in June from a bacterial infection at nine months.
