US to evacuate embassy in Pakistan

The United States is preparing to evacuate non-essential staff from its embassy in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad.

The US State Department has said that while Pakistan has expressed support for military strikes against its Muslim neighbour, Afghanistan, there is still "some public sympathy and support for the Taliban, as well as for [Osama] bin Laden".
