Suicide bomber attacks Turkish police

A suicide bomber has blown himself up near an Istanbul police station and also killed one officer and injuring 15 other people.

The bomber approached a police booth near the German consulate in the Turkish city and detonated the bomb.

At least 10 of the injured were police officers.

Police are trying to defuse another bomb found in the area.

The bombing took place near Istanbul's Taksim Square, a popular shopping and dinning area for Turks and tourists.

"It was an incredibly powerful explosion, all windows were smashed," said witness Vural Cankat. "Everywhere was full of human flesh and bones."
