10 killed in Algerian mosque massacre
Gunmen opened fire inside a mosque in northern Algeria, killing 10 people and wounding nine others.
A statement issued by security forces said the attackers are believed to be Islamic militants.
The massacre took place during Saturday evening prayers in the city of Arzew.
Islamic fundamentalists have waged a nine-year campaign of violence to try to overthrow the country’s military Government.
At least 60 people have been killed in the last four years in attacks near Oran, next to Arzew.
