Rebels publicly execute suspected spy
Tamil guerrillas publicly executed a suspected army spy by attaching a mine to his body and exploding it in a rebel-controlled area of eastern Sri Lanka, travellers said today.
The execution of Kandaswamy Yogeswaran, 32, on Tuesday was the fifth such reported killing in the past three months by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam insurgents, who are fighting for a homeland for the minority Tamils in the north and east of the country.
