Allied jets attack Iraqi defence targets

Allied jets attacked Iraqi air defence forces south of Baghdad today, marking the fourth such assault in less than two weeks.

In a brief announcement, US Central Command said the attack was in response to recent Iraqi "hostile threats" against the American and British aircraft that regularly patrol the skies over southern Iraq.
