Asylum seekers to leave Christmas Island

An Australian troop carrier is to leave Christmas Island with it’s cargo of more than 400 refugees bound for Papua New Guinea.

It remains undecided whether the refugees will be flown to New Zealand or Nauru, where their claims for refugee status will be processed.
