32nd Turkish hunger striker dies

The Turkish hunger strike has claimed its 32nd victim after the sister of a man being held in one of the country’s notorious prisons starved to death today.

38-year-old Hulya Simsek, whose incarcerated brother is also on hunger strike, died in a house in Istanbul after 285 days without food.
