Milosevic to face new genocide charge
Prosecutors at the UN War Crimes Tribunal in the Hague have announced that former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic will also be charged with genocide in connection with the wars in Croatia and Bosnia.
Chief prosecutor Carla del Ponte said she expects the genocide charge to be combined with Milosevic’s existing indictment for crimes committed by the Serb army in Kosovo.
Throughout the early 1990s, the Serbs slaughtered thousands of Catholics in Croatia and Muslims in Bosnia in their efforts to create a Slav-dominated Serbian empire.
