Palestinians have attacked Jewish settlements from the West Bank town Beit Jala.

Large-calibre machine gunfire hit the Israeli neighbourhood of Gilo.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces entered Palestinian territory near the city of Dir al-Balah refugee camp in the Gaza strip.

At least one Palestinian is said to have been killed.
