Seven doctors contract HIV while treating patients
Seven doctors at an Indian hospital have contracted HIV while treating infected patients in emergency wards.
The medical fraternity is demanding that the Government bear the cost of treating the doctors from the GSVM Medical College in Kanpur.
Their colleagues say it is not possible for doctors to arrange for the required drugs due to their high costs and poor availability.
One of the doctors is known to have got infected when blood from an HIV-positive patient splashed on the mucous membrane of his eye, reports said.
