Five dead in Middle East shoot-out

Three Israeli soldiers and two Palestinian militants have been killed in a gun battle in the Gaza Strip.

The fighting broke out after two Palestinian militants attacked the Israeli base with automatic rifles and hand grenades, the army said. The dead Israelis included a major, the army statement said.
