Tamil Tigers kill 12 policemen and two civilians

Twelve policemen and two civilians have been killed in a Tamil Tiger attack in Sri Lanka.

Eighteen others were wounded. According to the Defence Ministry and a local police official in Ampara, three rebels were also killed and seven injured.

It was the first Tamil Tigers operation since they attacked the country’s international airport and an adjoining air base near Colombo last month.
