Peres boosts hopes of peace talks

Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres today raised hopes of restoring peace in the Middle East by suggesting a meeting with PLO leader Yasser Arafat was ‘‘on the horizon’’.

‘‘I don’t know if it will be soon, but it is certainly visible on the horizon,’’ Peres told Israel army radio.
