US soldiers have been drafted in to help more than 20,000 firefighters battling scores of wildfires across the west coast states.

US soldiers have been drafted in to help more than 20,000 firefighters battling scores of wildfires across the west coast states.

Around 1,000 troops will help efforts to contain the fires, which are burning on more than 500,000 acres in 10 different states.

More than 2,233 separate fires have been reported in the past week.

Around 42 major fires are still burning, with Oregon suffering the worst damage.
