Police look at murder suspect link to missing Briton
Australian police say a man wanted for questioning over the killing of a chef may be linked to the disappearance of Peter Falconio.
Andrew Craig Heffernan, 25, was arrested at a caravan park near Newcastle, 90 miles north of Sydney, after a tip from the public.
Police say he is being questioned over the stabbing of Stuart Rhodes, 39, whose body was found in August 5 next to the Stuart Highway, 40 miles south of Alice Springs.
The discovery of Mr Rhodes' body comes three weeks after Mr Falconio, 28, of Hepworth, near Huddersfield, West Yorks, went missing about 220 miles north along the same road.
Police have not ruled out a link between Mr Rhodes' death and Mr Falconio's disappearance.
Mr Falconio has not been seen since July 14 when it is believed he was shot by a gunman who had ambushed the tourist and his girlfriend Joanne Lees, 27, near Barrow Creek, north of Alice Springs.
Miss Lees managed to escape and alerted police.
Authorities launched one of the biggest manhunts ever in Australia but found neither Mr Falconio nor the gunman.
