Mariah leaves psychiatric clinic

Singer Mariah Carey has left the psychiatric clinic where she has been recovering from a breakdown.

She has spent two weeks at Silver Hill, an exclusive Connecticut clinic specialising in mental illness and addiction.

She is now said to be with her mother.

"MC is feeling better," says her spokeswoman Cindi Berger.

"She's resting under a doctor's care at an undisclosed location with her mother.

"Fans have been sending their best wishes to her from all over the world."

It has been claimed that prior to checking herself in to the clinic, Carey was rushed to a hospital accident and emergency department with bandages on both wrists and hands.

Her spokespeople say that she broke glasses and dishes out of frustration.
