Reality TV show contestants undergo Robinson treatment

Contestants from Big Brother and Survivor are among nine brave volunteers who will face the wrath of acid-tongued quiz show host, Anne Robinson, in a reality gameshow special of The Weakest Link.

Penny Ellis and Narinder Kaur from Big Brother 2 are among those who will subject themselves to the taunts of Britain’s toughest quiz master.

Others taking part in the one-off special include, Darren Ramsay, Caroline O’Shea and Nasty Nick Bateman from last year’s Big Brother and Zoe Lyons and James Stroud from ITV’s recent Survivor series.

Trevor Kearon and Toby Waterman, two of the members of the Castaway community, which spent a year on a remote Scottish island, will also subject themselves to Robinson’s attacks as they try to avoid becoming the weakest link.

In the episode, which is due to be broadcast later this month, Penny, recreates her early exit from Big Brother by being the first contestant to hear Robinson utter the now famous phrase: ‘‘You are the weakest link - goodbye.’’

But the former primary school teacher felt she had faced more abuse in the Big Brother house than she did on Britain’s toughest quiz.

‘‘Anne Robinson was nicer to me than Stuart,’’ she said after being voted off the show.

And motormouth Narinder, known for her own savage put downs in the Big Brother house, said she was not intimidated by Robinson.

‘‘She didn’t scare me, the wench with the long black jacket,’’ she said.

The reality TV show episode is part of a number of Weakest Link specials which are being lined up.

Others include a Welsh Weakest Link where people offended by her comments about Wales will be able to get their own back.

Also lined up are a football special, a TV doctors and nurses special and a comedian special.

A new series is due to return to the screens in the Autumn.
