Fourteen miners killed in explosion

A gas explosion in a coal mine in Romania has killed 14 miners and hurt two others.

The cause of the blast in Vulcan, Hunedoara county, is under investigation although mine officials say it was sparked by methane gas that ignited.

Two bodies have been recovered.

After the accident, 40 miners refused to begin their shift at the mine, said reports.
