Jorge Amado - the best-selling author in Brazil's history - has died in hospital. He was 88.

Jorge Amado - the best-selling author in Brazil's history - has died in hospital. He was 88.

Amado, who suffered from diabetes, was admitted to the Alianca Hospital in northeastern city of Salvador da Bahia.
