Palestinians are claiming one of their leaders, who narrowly escaped death after two missiles landed near his car in the West Bank, was the target of an assassination attempt.

Marwan Barghouti, an outspoken leader of Yasser Arafat's Fatah movement, was shaken but unhurt. But a Palestinian security official travelling in a second car was injured.
