'Archer may be moved to Isle of Wight'

The British Prison Service is reportedly considering moving Lord Archer to a jail on the Isle of Wight.

The most likely destination for the disgraced peer if he is taken to the island will be HMP Camp Hill, a Category C male prison in Newport.

The island's other two prisons, HMP Parkhurst and HMP Albany, are both Category B jails - a higher classification than required for Archer who was this week made a Category C inmate.

The Prison Service has refused to discuss reports of an impending move for the Tory peer.

Archer is currently at the maximum security HMP Belmarsh jail in south London.
