A British Government minister has hinted at greater censorship of independent broadcasters following the outcry over a Channel 4 spoof documentary on paedophilia.

Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell said television watchdogs under Government control may be given tougher powers to prevent such programmes from being broadcast.
