Germany’s Frankfurt airport today closed its check-in hall to anyone without a ticket to prevent the area being invaded by human rights activists protesting at the deportation of rejected asylum seekers.

The airport, continental Europe’s largest, said it took the step to prevent any disruption from the planned protest, which was to include music and speeches and target national flag carrier Lufthansa.
