Israeli tanks shell Palestinian village
Israeli tanks have fired shells at a Palestinian village in the West Bank after gunmen in the village opened fire on a nearby Jewish settlement.
Nobody was injured when Palestinians in Salfit fired machine-guns at the Ariel settlement, but Israel retaliated anyway, destroying two police positions and injuring two policemen and six civilians.
Elsewhere in the West Bank, a Palestinian policeman was seriously injured in a clash with Israeli soldiers in the village of Bani Naim.
