A family of four have been killed after a racing car driver skidded out of control and into the crowd during an amateur rally in northwest Italy.

The crash happened late on Friday during the final qualifying round of the RallyLana race in Biella, about 60 miles west of Milan, along a straight patch of road leading into a double curve.
