Kursk lift set for September
The Russian nuclear submarine Kursk will be raised from the bottom of the Barents Sea in mid-September, weather permitting, officials said today.
An assessment of the risks involved in bringing up the 18,000 ton submarine, which was rent by two powerful explosions that sent it down and killed 118 crew members nearly a year ago, indicated the dangers were minimal, according to the private Kursk Foundation, which is assisting the Russian Government.
