ETA bomber 'was planning tourist attack'

The Spanish Government has said a Basque terrorist who accidentally blew herself up at a beach resort near Alicante was planning to attack tourists.

The 22-year-old bomber was handling more than 20lbs of dynamite when it exploded in a beach-front apartment just outside the resort town of Torrevieja yesterday.

Eight people, including five children, were slightly injured in the blast.

The Basque separatist group ETA had previously threatened to target foreign tourists in its war for independence from Spain.
